Tournaments

On this site you will find an overview of the tournaments.

All tournaments take place at the Rubín Cultural Center.

The schedule can be found here.

The Gomoku qualification overlaps with the Renju qualification, so players must choose which one to participate in (if they are competing for a spot in the A tournament and are not already qualified through other criteria).

On the other hand, the B tournaments do not overlap, meaning players can participate in both Gomoku and Renju (if they do not qualify for any A tournament).

The Blitz tournament is open for everyone.

The entry fees for individual tournaments are listed below. The full package (one qualification tournament + one A tournament, or both B tournaments, or RWT + blitz + a T-shirt) costs 1,500 CZK or 60 EUR.

Gomoku qualification tournament (GQT)

The purpose of this tournament is to determine the players who will compete in the Gomoku A Tournament alongside those who have already qualified.

Open for anyone: Yes

Tournament system: Swiss system – 8 rounds

Time control: 70 minutes per player + 30 seconds added for each move

Opening rule: Swap-2

Number of qualifying places: 5 (can be increased later)

Fee: 750 CZK or 30 EUR

Renju qualification tournament (RQT)

The purpose of this tournament is to determine the players who will compete in the Renju A Tournament alongside those who have already qualified

Open for anyone: No

Tournament system: Swiss system – 8 rounds

Time control: 70 minutes per player + 30 seconds added for each move

Opening rule: Taraguchi-10

Number of qualifying places: 4

Fee: 750 CZK or 30 EUR

Gomoku A Tournament (GAT)

The purpose of this tournament is to determine the Gomoku World Champion of 2025 among the 12 qualified players.

Open for anyone: No

Tournament system: Round Robin (11 rounds)

Time control: 120 minutes per player + 30 seconds added for each move

Opening rule: Swap-2

Renju A Tournament (RAT)

The purpose of this tournament is to determine the Renju World Champion of 2025 among the 12 qualified players.

Time control: 120 minutes per player + 30 seconds added for each move

Gomoku B Tournament (GBT)

This is an open tournament, any player can join. The winner of this tournament will get a national place for his country for the next World Championship.

Tournament system: Swiss system – 8 rounds

Time control: 60 minutes per player + 30 seconds added for each move

Opening rule: Swap-2

Fee: 750 CZK or 30 EUR for adults, 370 CZK or 15 EUR for players under 18

Renju B Tournament (RBT)

This is an open tournament, any player can join.

Open for anyone: Yes

Tournament system: Swiss system – 8 rounds

Time control: 60 minutes per player + 30 seconds added for each move

Opening rule: Taraguchi-10

Fee: 750 CZK or 30 EUR for adults, 370 CZK or 15 EUR for players under 18

Renju Women's Tournament (RWT)

Open for anyone: Yes (women only)

Tournament system: will be announced later based on the number of participants

Time control: 120 minutes per player + 30 seconds added for each move

Opening rule: Taraguchi-10

Fee: 1000 CZK or 40 EUR

Blitz Tournament

Open for everyone, details will be specified later.
